Over the years I have come across so many different kinds of websites from different industries. Some of them looked really simple and yet very attractive with a clean layout, while others looked pretty spectacular, with some amazing colourful graphic design.
The current trend in web design has seen a great departure from the use of tables that had square edges, much to my relief. We have now moved to the era of rounded corners using CSS. The trend keeps on growing with the introduction of new ones over the past few years. See the list below. You can do your research about them.
- ZigZag Borders
- Muted Tones
I do not know exactly what WordPress has to do with these trends because the last time I checked out some WordPress themes, most of them had at least one of these design styles in their portfolio.
The of issue of display will definitely take a center stage as more and more people get online through their phones/smartphones and tablet devices. We all know the problem of websites not displaying well on a particular device due to screen size/resolution. The ability of a website to automatically adjust its display to fit on different screen resolutions should be interesting.
With the introduction of HTML5, CSS3&5, and jQuery has made it possible for web designers to produce very attrative animated effects.
One thing that will gain more and more popularity in the coming years is infographics. I am a big fan of infographics and I am sure most internet users will agree with me. Reading data in the form of text alone can sometimes be energy-draining. Using data visualisation tools in your website will surely draw some visitors.
